Getting To Lismore...

Where is Lismore NSW???....

Lismore is situated on the sunny, sub-tropical, north coast of New South Wales. It is 45 min drive inland from the most easterly point on the Australian continent, Cape Byron. The area is a surf/beach/holiday mecca for families, backpackers, hippies and all sorts of holiday makers. The nearby town of Byron Bay is an extremely sort after holiday spot. Around Lismore there are large areas of sub-tropical rainforest, national parks and clean beaches.

Lismore is 3hrs drive south of Brisbane, 1.5hrs drive south of the Gold Coast, 9hrs drive north of Sydney. It is easily accessible by air, rail and bus.

Lismore is one of the regional centres for the NSW north coast. It has a population of 46,000(?), the Southern Cross University is situated here, the towns commercial centre and public life have a feeling of both the rural and the alternative.

Ballina (30 min from Lismore) by REX, Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue Airlines.
Coolangatta on a cheap airfare, then drive by hire car (1.5 hrs drive to Lismore) or take a Kirklands Coach, 1300 367077, (4 times per day from Coolangatta Airport) or a BBI Shuttle 02 66857447 / 0421606509 to Lismore.
Brisbane on a cheap airfare, then hire a car or travel by coach to Lismore (4 hr trip, Kirklands Coaches, 1300 367077, 4 coaches per day leave Roma Street Transit Centre).

Kirklands Coaches run both ways between Lismore/Brisbane four times a day.
Premier Coach Service, 133410, run the Sydney/Lismore/Brisbane route once a day each way (three times a day if you want to get off at a town nearby, then make your own way to Lismore).

Train:

The Brisbane/Sydney line has a stop at Casino and buses people on to Lismore but the train may have its Lismore stop late pm or very early am (depending which direction you're traveling), phone Countrylink, 132232. Melbourne to Lismore is also an option if one has the luxury of time. If I remember correctly, Countrylink also have advance pruchase fares.
